Excerpts from a Birthday Party

Erin believes in PETA, she believes in nature, she believes in hash, she's a fuzzy koala bear. She talked of books she read between bong hits about political prisoners in Philadelphia called MOVE. She believes Mumia should be set free. She's not old enough yet to be cynical like I am, there's still life left in her.
Full of life and smoke, as the bong is passed over from the Israeli's...they can't speak English, so they just sit and smile with this nervous glee that turns into catatonic glee. The best way to assimilate is to take your brain offline...then you can be slid right in.
I watched them, but didn't partake. Lizzy, a sad girl didn't either. She sat across from me and , watching and wondering what exactly I am all about. She's another mirror that I've seen so many people's faces within.
Tina, my Tina...
Tina came to me and said her mission would be helping artists who find themselves blocked...helping them to work past and create again.
I told Tina that I was blocked - asked her to tell me what was wrong. She looked to me, telling me that I use humor to mask intense hatred and anger.
Good girl, she saw right through me, all the while Lizzy still stared and saw nothing.
And cute little Erin would lead no more protests tonight, she was high as a kite and cuddled up like a Koala bear.
